Web Accessibility made easy for WordPress
Meetup: Tampa & Ybor
Featured Speaker: Joe LoPreste Steve Curtis
253 million people worldwide have some sort of visual impairment. As developers, we can help a lot of people by making the web accessible to everyone.
There have been 1000’s of lawsuits in 2018 and that number is growing very fast in 2019.
We explain what the WCAG 2.1 guidelines are and why they are so important.
Then we will offer easy and actionable steps that you can take as soon as you get home to help you become compliant.
We also go through and explain and give examples of each step so you will understand clearly.
Finally, we offer some links to free software that you can use to test your websites Section 508 compliance.
Please come armed with questions as we will begin our session with an “ask us anything” segment. We encourage you to bring your laptop. Time permitting, we will work with you on a crowdsourcing solution for challenges that you may be facing within your own organization.
If you are having any problems with your WordPress website or are interested in growing your understanding of the platform, this is the meetup for you.
The doors open at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. There will be plenty of time to network with fellow WordPress users and individuals in the higher education industry. Please be sure to come early and bring business cards.
